Lee Roy Selmon has a background that is a combination of family scholarships football and volunteer work in the community. His family's first name is he's the youngest out of nine kids who were raised by Eufala through Lucious Selmon. He played second in football and was the third brother who were players for Oklahoma. The three brothers all made All-America. The year was 1973. Lucious Jr. Dewey and Lee Roy were starters. Lee Roy is the winner of both Outland Awards as well as Lombardi Awards. He was one of the top linemen in all of the nation. In the three years that Roy was a starter, Oklahoma won two National Championships. As an National Football Foundation Scholarship-Athlete, Selmon received an award for his third year in 1975. Selmon earned a degree from the University of California, Berkeley. Lee Roy's fourth time of service included ten hours per week of volunteer time in the college. He moved to Tampa after college, was a member of the Buccaneers for nine years and was three-times all-pro. The business venture he started began. In 1988, as an account representative at First Florida Bank of Tampa, he worked with Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. There was no doubt that the year 1982 was when The Junior Chamber of Commerce named Lee Roy among the top ten outstanding young people throughout the United States. Lee Roy stood 6-2 in height and weighed 256 pounds as a college player he was captain of the team in 1975. In 1993, he became the assistant director of Athletics at University of South Florida. He was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame by his fellow members of the GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame of 1994 as well as by the Pro Football Hall of Fame of 1995. In 1989 the Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation presented its Distinguished American Award, to Mr. Lucious Selmon and his wife. Henry Bellmon was the Oklahoma Governor who presented this award.
