Arianna Huffington
Arianna Stassinopoulos Huffington is a Greek American author syndicated columnist and a businesswoman. She co-founded The Huffington Post, is the CEO and founder of Thrive Global as well an author of fifteen novels. Arianna Huffington, an independently-owned liberal news website has a TV personality, author, and charitable donor. Her birthplace is Greece, Arianna Huffington moved to England with her family at sixteen years of age. At Cambridge University she earned a MA diploma in Economics. She was elected president at the age of 21 of the famous debating club The Cambridge Union' and was the first non-native student to do so. After graduation she made her impression as an editorialist for the conservative syndicate and, with the advent of The Huffington Post' few years later, she launched a voice-based website that included critical comments about the current political climate. Her fame led to the recruitment of a number of well-known contributors for posting their thoughts about news, politics and other topics. Arianna became famous following her decision to stand as independently in the California recall election, to take over then Governor Davis. Additionally, she was a leader of an Detroit fuel-efficient car project. Forbes classified her as the 12th most influential woman in the media industry in 2009 and Guardian also ranked her on the Top 100 List of Media at the time. AOL Inc. bought The Huffington Post in 2011 and named her the president of the media group that also includes additional AOL properties like Engadget AOL Music Style list as well as Patch Media. Their parents are Elli and Konstantinos Stasinopoulos. They were a management consultant as well as a journalist. The couple was close to her father. But it is her bond with her mother who shaped her. While in her formative time, she showed leadership skills for which her name is still well-known. She moved to England at 16 to continue her education and was accepted into Girton College Cambridge. In her time at college, she belonged to the Cambridge Union debating group where she became the first female president, and also the only foreign president. She graduated in 1972 with her master's degree in Economics. She worked as a critic as well as a host on TV and as a columnist shortly after her graduation. She also appeared in an episode of Face the music along with Bernard Levin and began writing books after receiving editorial advice from him.
