Arianna Huffington
Arianna Stassinopoulos Huffington is a Greek American author syndicated columnist and businesswoman. She's written 15 books, and she is co-founder the magazine The Huffington Post. Arianna Huffington, an independently-owned liberal news site, is a television personality as well as a writer and charitable donor. Originally from Greece, Arianna Huffington moved to England together with her family around 16 years old. At Cambridge University she earned a MA degree in Economics. The well-known debating club The Cambridge Union was her first presidency and she did it at the age of 21. Her success as a conservative columnist was consolidated after she completed her studies. With the introduction of The Huffington Post a few year later, she established an online platform for voice that gave an honest assessment of the current political situation. In part, her fame led to the recruitment of a variety of renowned contributors. Arianna gained fame after she made the decision in 2003 to run as an Independent candidate in the California Recall Election in order to succeed former Governor Davis. Aside from that, Arianna also spearheaded an initiative in Detroit initiative to promote fuel-efficient vehicles. Forbes named her as 12th on their list of the Top influential women in the media. Guardian also included the Huffington Post in their list of the top 100 in the year 2010. AOL purchased The Huffington Post from AOL in 2011. She was then made the President of AOL's media group. The group included several AOL-owned brands, including Engadget AOL Style List and Patch Media. Elli Stasinopoulos is the daughter of Konstantinos an advisor to management and a journalist. Although she was a close friend to her father it was the relationship she shared with her mother which shaped her character. When she was a teen she displayed leadership qualities that she's still known for. at the age of 16 she emigrated into the United Kingdom to pursue her study and then enrolled at Girton College Cambridge. In college, she was a member of the Cambridge Union, a college debate club. As the third woman president and the first foreigner she served as the head for the Cambridge Union. In 1972, she earned an advanced degree in Economics. In the years following her degree, she was a columnist-critic and a host on TV. Also, with Bernard Levin she appeared on an episode of Face the music.
