Anna Silk is a Fredericton native and the child of Peter Silk, who was an academic. Her mother, Ilkay Silk, had numerous skills, such as being able to direct, act and produce plays, as well as write them teaching, as well as be the Director of Drama at St. Thomas University. Anna Silk is the child of a Briton, and a Turkish Cypriot English ex-pat. Her appearances in commercials were numerous as a young child. Then, in November 1999 Anna moved to Toronto for the purpose of advancing her acting career. She eventually moving in Los Angeles, California, during the decade that followed.
